Actress Katrina Kaif, who will be seen opposite Shah Rukh Khan for the first time in Yash Chopra's next film, says she was intimidated by the superstar but later found him to be very dedicated and helpful.
"With regards to Shah Rukh, I did not know him that well at all. I would have said five words to him in my entire life. With SRK, who is a superstar I have worked this year, after being in the industry for nine years," Katrina told PTI. "You constantly see that person on TV, in media, movies and everywhere. So for me a little sense of intimidation was there when you are actually in front of him.. which I later found funny," she said.
Both are paired opposite each other in the untitled film directed Yash Chopra which is a romantic drama, written and produced by Aditya Chopra. The film also features Anushka Sharma in a pivotal role. The film, believed to be a love triangle, marks the return of Yash Chopra as a director after a gap of eight years, his last film being Veer Zaara in 2004.
After having started working with King Khan, the 28-year-old actress is all praise for him. "When I started working with him, it was great. Shahrukh as an actor is extremely dedicated, he is not thinking about himself or not thinking about how many years he is in the industry. He is extremely helpful. He has also worked with Yashji earlier, so he knows his style of working... he knows what Yashji is expecting from me... what he is trying to say to me," Katrina said.
Also, this is the first time that Katrina is working in a Yash Chopra directorial venture. "I must say Yashji is an incredibly nice and sweet man. It took time for him to understand me, when we were talking off the sets, he was like are you happy or sad, I was like it takes a while for me...you will understand. He jokes around...he is fun to work with," Katrina said.
It was reported last year that both Katrina and Anushka had a fight over a make-up artist, which both denied.
Katrina said, "Anushka and I have scenes together. We had fun. We were making up our own movie on the sets as we were shooting, with alternative scenes, our version of dialogues and all."
The shoot for this untitled film is still remaining and Katrina would join the cast after she is done with the promotions of her soon-to-be-released yet another Yash Raj Film Ek Tha Tiger with Salman Khan.
"We have another 20 days of schedule left. There are some portions left for shooting...one small schedule left in Ladakh. I will leave later as I am busy with Ek Tha Tiger," Katrina said.
Both of her upcoming projects Ek Tha Tiger (with Salman) and Yash Chopra's untitled film opposite (with Shahrukh) are creating buzz, primarily due to the presence of Khans.
Ask her how she feels and Katrina says, "If Shah Rukh and Salman after having 25 years of experience are not dominating the project then I feel something is seriously wrong."
"It does not matter to me...I don't want to take credit solely on my own. I feel I have worked in different kinds of films, doing different roles across various genres. I have worked with everyone not only Khans like Akshay, Ranbir, Bobby, Abhishek, Neil, John. I have tried lot of different options," she said.
