WATCH: Salman Khan's 'animated' avatar in Ek Tha Tiger

By Hindustan Times

If you loved Salman Khan in the trailer of Ek Tha Tiger, you will like him in the recently launched ETT Yomics also. In his latest avatar, Salman Khan jumps off the buildings, smashes heads and performs stunts.
The comics was recently launched, but Salman couldn't make it to the event. "Sorry, I can't be at the launch of Ycomics. But I would like to wish Uday Chopra and Yash Raj all the very best."
"Every month a new Yomic will come. We will be adding the fifth title during Diwali. The new title is very different to Dhoom and Ek tha tiger. I want to give the readers something completely new," Uday Chopra said about the Yomics.
Chopra said his Yomics are very different to conventional comic books which are available. Their look and feel makes them distinct.
"I have kept the art work very colourful and simple. It is not grim. Today's comics are very grim and dark. I want to stay away from that. I want to cater to a universal audience and make them feel happy about it. I will enter that realm also but right now I want to make them very appealing," he said.

Now, Halle Berry in a sari!

By Hindustan Timeshalleberrysari.JPG
Halle Berry joins the ranks of international celebrities who have been flaunting the desi look Indian fans of Halle Berry, 45, are in for a pleasant surprise. The first extended trailer of Cloud Atlas, Berry’s upcoming sci-fi film with Tom Hanks, shows the Oscar-winning actor in a bright red sari.
Dressed in traditional Indian attire, complete with glass bangles and mehndi on her hands, Berry looks every inch a new Indian bride.
The trailer was released to much excitement among fans of the epic drama based on a 2004 novel by the same name, written by British author David Mitchell. The novel consists of six stories that take the reader from remote South Pacific in the nineteenth century to a distant, post-apocalyptic future. The film, written and directed by The Matrix creators Lana and Andy Wachowski, also stars Susan Sarandon and Hugh Grant, and is scheduled for an October 26 release. The film contains stories set in a different time and place, and it is being speculated that Berry plays an Indian character in one.
In the recent past, international celebrities such as Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton and Lady Gaga have been seen flaunting a sari, inspiring French luxury label Hermes to launch an entire range of the six-yard Indian wonder. “It’s great that international stars have taken to sporting a sari. It’s not just a promotion of our dress but also makes these stars a big talking point,” says filmmaker Anil Sharma. “But do young women in India enjoy wearing a sari?” asks filmmaker Alankrita Shrivastav.

Actors don’t do movies to break records: Salman Khan

At a suburban studio; between takes, Salman Khan sits outside his vanity van, surrounded by his in-house doctor, some members of the cine artistes association and his own team.

Bhai, as he is fondly referred to by most people, is organising an eye-camp for the less privileged in Bollywood. Once he has wrapped that, he takes a short break to talk to TOI. Excerpts:

The box office expectation from your latest film is so humungous that no other filmmaker wishes torelease his film around that time!
Well, it should be. It's the coming together of two big brands — Salman Khan and Yash Chopra. So naturally the expectations are bound to be high. But that is not something I orchestrated. It is something that the trade is expecting. I only set out to make a good film. On second thoughts, our industry needs more money yaar. Now the government has decided to burden us with a 12.5 per cent service tax! It's crazy the way this business functions.

Will the Bodyguard figures be toppled this August?
Actors don't do movies to break records. The idea is always to make a film with utmost sincerity. Records get made and broken because of statistics. The numbers of theatres that play Bollywoodmovies globally have increased; the release of films is now very wide. Naturally the returns have increased. Frankly from now on, I want all films to start crossing the ` 200 cr mark. I was sitting with some members of the junior artistes association today and I was sad to hear that many junior artistes and technicians in the industry still don't have money to pay for their medical needs and basic amenities. I hope all our movies make enough to at least provide these guys with a
decent livelihood.

Two decades into the business and the Khan-trio is still ruling the roost...
Kya boloon. It's destiny. I'm grateful to Sooraj Barjatya for Maine Pyar Kiya and so many others who believed in me. I guess all three of us (Aamir, Shah Rukh and I) have been lucky. Sometimes we got good scripts that turned out to be even better films. And at other times, our very ordinary films have done wonders at the box office. But above all, we have God's blessings and have managed a faithful fan following.

Who according to you is the biggest Khan? Aamir, Shah Rukh Or you?
Next. This question doesn't interest me.

Are you doing Sooraj Barjatya's film next?
He has narrated a script to me. But I'm starting my younger brother Sohail's film next. Actually when I heard Sohail's script, my immediate reaction was 'wow.' If a script doesn't do that to me; I'm not even going to attempt a film anymore.

So how does this wow thing happen?
Bante bante ban jata hai. A script may be just adequate in the first draft. It becomes extraordinary with a few good dialogues; some good emotions; a great music track; somefantastic action. A lot of small things go into making the big picture. What is first put on paper has to be garnished. The garnishing happens with constant thought, a lot of emotion and a deep understanding of the medium.

Having said that, I'm the first one to admit that despite everything we do, sometimes we actors go horribly wrong with our choice of movies. After all, we are just human

The box office expectation from your latest film is so humungous that no other filmmaker wishes to release his film around that time!
Well it should be. It's the coming together of two big brands — Salman Khan and Yash Chopra. But that is not something I orchestrated. It is something that the trade is expecting. I only set out to make a good film. On second thoughts, our industry needs more money, yaar. Now the Government has decided to burden us with a 12.5 per cent service tax! The numbers of theatres that play Bollywood movies globally have increased; the release of films is now very wide. Naturally, the returns have increased. Frankly, from now on, I want all films to start crossing the `200 cr mark. There are still a lot of underpriviledged workers in our industry.

Agreed. But do you think that the monies should be chanelised better?
I was sitting with some members of the junior artistes association today and I was sad to hear that many junior artistes and technicians in the industry still don't have money to pay for their medical needs and basic amenities. I hope all our movies make enough to at least provide these guys with a decent livelihood. I feel sad every time I hear a hard-luck story.

Kin of Indian spy ask for Ek Tha Tiger show

By Hindustan Times
After being banned in Pakistan, upcoming Salman Khan-Katrina starrer Ek Tha Tiger is in more trouble.
The family of real-life Indian spy, Ravindra Kaushik, has asked the filmmakers to reveal the original screenplay or organise a screening for his family, as the promos of the film reportedly bear a resemblance to the spy’s experiences in Pakistan.

Where did Kareena Kapoor's fat go in Heroine poster?

By Hindustan Times
Not long ago, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar enthusiastically tweeted Kareena Kapoor’s look from Heroine, complete with her curves and a roll of fat sticking out from the seams of her blouse. Of course, he forgot that when his guys would release the film’s poster with the same look, they’d digitally do away with every bit of visible flab, giving her an unnaturally perfect waist. And alas, the act is now facing flak even as the poster tops popularity charts.
Ditto with the new Raaz 3 poster that has ghosts feeling up a flawless, flat-stomached Bipasha Basu.
“It is not real,” says a post under the Raaz 3 poster. “She looks fantastic yet fake,” reads another post. Reaction to Kareena’s technically perfected pose are no different. “Small flaws make a person attractive ... why are they distorting reality? It’s impossible for her waist to be that narrow without any fold at that angle,” reads a comment.
While Heroine maker Madhur Bhandarkar chooses not to comment, Raaz 3 director Vikram Bhatt says, “This is utter rubbish. Bipasha is very hard working and has one of the fittest bodies; not iota of Photoshop has been used in the poster.” Publicity designer Rahul Nanda has an explanation for the practice: “Film art is a different ball game, you can’t compare it with real pictures.”

Spot the difference
The picture on the right is the one Bhandarkar tweeted while the film’s song Halkat Jawaani was being shot. In the film’s poster on the left, the roll of fat and the tiny tummy bulge are missing. Also, don’t miss the enhanced curve on the cup of the blouse.

Katy Perry and John Mayer: Cuddling Alert!

Katy Perry may have snared herself a douchebag.

According to the latest issue of Us Weekly, the female singer was spotted out and about in West Hollywood the other man... with notorious ladies man and supposedly soulful singer John Mayer!

Katy Perry Movie Premiere Pic

"They were affectionate, holding hands and cuddling," a witness says of Perry and Mayer, who spent time at SoHo House on June 19.

The following evening, Perry allegedly then shared pizza with Mayer at her home.

This coupling really should not come as a surprise. Perry has rated herself a 10 out of 10 in bed, while we all know what Mayer looks for in a companion. Two words: sexual napalm.

Dane Cook Apologizes for Dark Knight Rises Joke, Being an Insensitive Moron

Dane Cook has apologized for being an insensitive jerk bag.
On Thursday night, the unfunny stand-up comedian joked that people inside the Aurora, Colorado movie theater last week were probably wishing they'd be shot because The Dark Knight Rises is such a bad movie.
Shockingly, anyone with an ounce of sympathy and intelligence came down hard on Cook, prompting him to write the following on Twitter:
I am devastated by the recent tragedy in Colorado & did not mean to make light of what happened.
I made a bad judgment call with my material last night & regret making a joke at such a sensitive time. My heart goes out to all of the families & friends of the victims.
And, with that, let's hope the controversy goes away. Along with Cook.

Rihanna and Chris Brown DID Party Together, Source Says

Did they or didn't they? That's the question concerning Rihanna and Chris Brown this week.

Days after the latter singer's rep shot down reports of this former couple reuniting on a yacht in St. Tropez, an insider tells Us Weekly that the pair DID, indeed, get together.

Rihanna in France
As Twitter photos have depicted, Rihanna and friends have been shopping and sunning in St. Tropez for awhile now and this source tells the tabloid she "changed her plans" last Friday night after hearing Brown was on his way to the area.

She allegedly called her ex from a satellite phone and arranged to meet him on his ridiculous mode of transportation: a yacht with a submarine, pool and two helicopter landings, which Brown is renting (for $400,000/week) along with Swizz Beatz and Ludacris for a music video shoot.

"Rihanna went and partied hard with the guys on their yacht," the mole claims.

Brown's current squeeze, Karrueche Tran, was also on board the vehicle, according to this source, and may not even have been aware that Rihanna was around. We'd doubt the validity of that report, but did you read the description of the yacht?!?

It's not small.

Justin Bieber Raises the YouTube Bar, Sets New Goal

Justin Bieber has made it clear once again: he's not a little kid anymore.

The singer, who opened up about his beliefs on sex with Rolling Stone this month, covers the latest issue of Rolla Coaster and reiterates that his new CD was recorded with an older demographic in mind.
Justin Bieber on Rolla Coaster Cover
"I’m getting older and I want that to reflect in my album," he tells the publication. "It is just more mature and reflecting the age that I am."

Despite his massive success, Bieber also says he's constantly striving higher.

"Each time I break a record I’m always happy. With my YouTube stuff, "Baby" has more views than any video – ever. So my next goal is to reach one billion views on a video."

One billion?!? We'd scoff. But if anyone can accomplish that feat, it's the artist yanking at his shirt collar above.

Aurora Movie Theater to Pay for Victim Funeral Services

Another closet corrects the cry.
The movie theater inside which James Holmes took the lives of 12 people last Friday is offering to pay for the funerals of those lost in the massacre.
CO Victims
As first reported by TMZ, several services were held this week, including one for a 32-year old mother of two named Rebecca Wingo.
And insiders say the owners of Cinemark called the chapel where her funeral was being held and made it clear it would cover the expenses for Wingo and also all other victims of the tragedy.
Rebecca's mother actually turned down the offer, sources confirm, but only because the Victims Advocate Fund has already paid for everyone's main funeral expenses.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to all those affected by this terrible incident.

It’s Shobhaa De vs Oprah Winfrey!!

Oprah Winfrey’s recent comment about Indians still eating with their hands hasn’t gone down to well with the Indians.
The queen of talkshows was in India,to shoot a special India episode for her ‘Oprah’s next chapter’ earlier this year which was aired recently.
Her statement “I heard some Indian people eat with thier hands still?” has recieved a very very negative response from the Indians and also called her snobbish.
Oprah’s comment also offended Indian author Shobhaa de who got mighty pissed with her and tweeted, “Oprah’s last chapter! thats what angry Indians are calling the much hyped but ridiculously shabby show. Oprah has lost her groove. Honey pack up! posted De.

Anushka Sharma on her co-star Katrina Kaif!

Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma will soon be seen sharing screen space in Yash Chopra’s untitled flick, opposite Shahrukh Khan. Despite being equally pretty and talented, and to not forget in a competitive industry like ours, Anushka and Katrina share a good rapport!
Anushka Sharma while talking to reporters in an interview said, “I’m aware she’s (Katrina) a bigger star and I accept it. I think Katrina Kaif’s presence will add credibility to my career.”
The actress also went on to praise Katrina Kaif saying that she (Kats) is a celebrated star and a very hard working girl. Anushka also talked about the non existing fights that media makes up between two actresses. She finds it useless and irritating, answering such baseless questions. .

Will Ranbir-Deepika re create the 80′s magic??

The film “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani” will have Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone dance to the 80s’ superhit track “Jumma Chumma De De”.
Says a source, “Karan Johar, director Ayaan Mukherjee, Ranbir and Deepika are huge fans of the Big B. It was decided they’d do one of his songs and dance in Yeh Jawaani Hai Diwani. The question was which one?”
Ranbir Kapoor is charming and Deepika Padukone is glamorous! Now, keeping this in mind, the makers of the film wanted a peppy, perky and naughty track from the 80′s and hence ended up finalizing “Jumma Chumma”. It is heard that the makers have already acquired the rights of the chartbuster.
Now, the question is, will the modern duo recreate the Amitabh Bachchan-Kimi Katkar’s magic or will they have a complete change in their dance moves???

Ranbir Kapoor pleads guilty in smoking case

ranbir
Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor Thursday pleaded guilty, through his lawyers, to charges of smoking publicly during a movie shoot in Rajasthan’s Udaipur district about four months ago and sought exemption from personal appearance in the case, a lawyer said.
Kapoor, who was represented by three lawyers, had been accused of publicly smoking at Ghangaur Ghat in Udaipur March 28.
“Harish Vaishanav had approached the court saying that the actor violated the law by smoking publicly. The court issued a summon to the actor May 31. The summon was delivered to his house in Mumbai by police recently,” said advocate K.K. Purohit, who represented the actor in the court Thursday.
“We filed an application pleading guilty to the charges under the Rajasthan Prevention of Smoking Act and seeking exemption for Kapoor’s personal appearance before the court,” said Purohit.
Purohit pleaded that the offence was mistakenly done by the actor and he (Kapoor) has assured the court that this kind of thing would not be repeated again.
The court has fixed Aug 27 for the next hearing in the case, he added.
The additional chief judicial magistrate had summoned Kapoor to appear before his court July 26 on a complaint that he publicly smoked during the shooting of his movie “Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani” in the town, some 300 km from Jaipur.
According to a Rajasthan law, an offender could face maximum imprisonment of six months or a maximum fine of Rs.200 for smoking in public. – IANS

Ekta knows tricks of the trade: Tusshar Kapoor

tushar ekta kapoor 200x192
Actor Tusshar Kapoor is impressed with his sister Ekta Kapoor’s business sense, and says she has understood the tactics of survival in the industry after years of hard work.
“Ekta has learnt the tricks of the trade, but there is a lot of hard work too which she put in all these years. She has come to a stage where now she knows she has got a good team and now she can go ahead. One takes time to understand a business,” Tusshar told IANS.
The 35-year-old agrees that after churning out films like “Kyaa Kool Hai Hum” and “The Dirty Picture”, his home production Balaji Motion Pictures has become popular for its bold films. He feels proud such films have been a hit with the masses.
“A lot of our films have been bold and they have done as well. There is a way to mix commercial and art and that is what Ekta has learnt to do,” he said.
Tusshar plans to follow his sister’s footsteps, and wants to produce a film as well. But he’s waiting for a good corporate tie-up with a nice director and script.

People will come for erotica, not Sunny: Pooja Bhatt

“Jism 2″ director Pooja Bhatt feels while many people will be curious to watch Indo-Canadian star Sunny Leone on the big screen, many might overlook her for the erotica in the movie.
“There is a whole section of people who will go to theatre only to watch Sunny while there will be another who won’t be bothered with her being in the film. They will come to see the erotica,” Pooja told IANS.
The movie, releasing Aug 3, also features Arunoday Singh and Randeep Hooda in prominent roles. – IANS

Audiences yet to trust my banner: Ekta Kapoor

ekta kapoor1 200x144
After making a mark with hit shows on the small screen, producer Ekta Kapoor made successful films like “Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai”, “Shootout at Lokhandwala” and the blockbuster “The Dirty Picture”, but believes her home banner Balaji Motion Pictures is too young to have earned the trust of the audiences completely.
“I don’t think we have still built that reputation where people will automatically assume that a Balaji film will be very entertaining. So I am hoping that when three to four more films release, the audience will trust the banner more,” Ekta said here.
“No one comes to watch Balaji films. The tickets priced at Rs.100 and Rs.200 are too much. People take it out from their budget, and youngsters from their pockets. They don’t come for a brand name.
“In films, we are only two-and-a-half years old honestly, before that we were doing one-offs as a company,” added the 37-year-old.
Balaji Motion Pictures’ last film “The Dirty Picture” was a super hit and the next from the banner is adult comedy “Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum”, releasing Friday.
Asked is she is scared of higher expectations after a film like “The Dirty Picture”, Ekta said: “That was a different film, this is different. I request the audience not to compare the two films.”
She stresses that they have tried to make the film as entertaining as possible.
“My director and actors have tried not to waste the audience’s three hours and, instead, made the film entertaining. We also know when the audience rejects it, how bad it feels and when they love, how nice that feels,” said Ekta.
“Kyaa Super Kool Hain Hum” stars Tusshar Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Sarah Jane Dias and Neha Sharma. – IANS

Bipasha Basu looks stunning on the first poster of Raaz 3

After Kareena Kapoor left all her fans jaws dropped with her Heroine first look, it’s Bipasha’s turn now taking over with the poster of Raaz 3.
The third installment of Raaz the horror series also stars Esha Gupta and Jacqueline Fernandez, but Bipasha steals the show and it’s only her on the poster besides Emraan Hashmi without whom the Bhatts dont usually make a movie.
Bips, earlier has played seductive roles in films such as Jism, Ajnabee and No entry, once again displays her hot body on the poster of Raaz 3 while Emraan watches over grimly. And since this is a horror movie, disfigured, demonic hands encircle her from behind.
Bipasha appeared in Raaz(2002) opposite her then boyfriend Dino Morea. She wasn’t there in the sequel which featured Emraan and Kangna Ranaut.

Prakash Raj to play a villain in Anil Sharma's film

eteran Tamil actor Prakash Raj, who will soon be playing a villain in director Anil Sharma'sSingh Saheb The Great, calls his role in the film, a tough one.

"The character I essay in the movie hails from a royal family, that is in a powerful position. As they say power corrupts, I undergo the same experience in the film," says Prakash, who will be playing a villain from Uttar Pradesh.

Anil will create a special look for Prakash in the film. "Since the character hails from Uttar Pradesh, the look that I am going to have in the film, is the kind that will represent the state's culture. My character is intense and angry, and proud of his family heritage. He has a very different body language and to play this role is exciting. That's the prime reason why I took it up. I am looking forward to some heated drama and dishum-dishum with Sunny (Deol)," says Prakash.

But Prakash's biggest high is when fans, especially women and children want to interact with him despite his villainous characters. "It's a great feeling when people smile at the villain and want to click pictures with him. I guess women and children, love the devil in me. And withSingh Saheb The Great, I hope to increase my fan base," he says.

Anil adds, "I feel that as far as the slot for villains in Bollywood is concerned, there is a vacuum. I had seen Prakash Raj's several films down South and was amazed by his popularity and the fan base he commanded. He was just the right choice for Singh Saheb The Great."

I don't like the word Bollywood: Amitabh Bachchan Ashis Ray, TNN | Jul 28, 2012, 12.00AM IST

I don't like the word Bollywood: Amitabh Bachchan
One is normally used to seeing this on television. But to be a part of it was a huge surprise," says Amitabh Bachchan about carrying the torch at the London Olympics this year. The actor talks to us about how he was surprised when he was approached for this, and how he has been closely following India's prospects. Amitabh also talks about how he would love to play a historical character at this juncture of his career...

What did carrying the torch mean to you?
The Olympics is the ultimate sporting event. And to be asked to be a part of it is a huge honour. I don't know why I was chosen. It feels wonderful that Great Britain, the hosts of the Olympics, has chosen people from different communities, different parts of the world. It shows the spirit of the Olympics, where it preaches the coming together of caste, creed, religion, colour, nations to compete in a friendly atmosphere. And just to be a part of it is a moment of great pride.

Were you surprised when they contacted you?
Yes. One is normally used to seeing this on television. But to be a part of it was a huge surprise.

Have you been following India's prospects?
Yes. We have the largest contingent ever so far in any Olympics. And one wishes them the very best. There are many routines where there were no representatives ever. Initially, India came just as a hockey team and that was it. But now they are in track and field, boxing, wrestling, archery and shooting. These are all routines which were never heard of or at least never heard of as being associated with India. But they all hopefuls.

Today, you are not merely a filmstar, but a legendary Indian. Do the issues that confront India make you think about the way India is progressing?
We are just normal human beings. And just because we happen to be in a profession where you are loaded with the title of a celebrity doesn't mean we are acquainted or equipped or knowledgeable enough to be able to answer some of these questions. But somehow it is just because you are a celebrity it is assumed you will have this great solutions to some of the greatest problems the country is facing. I would just say I am an aware citizen of my country. Yes, what develops in the country affects all of us and we have our opinions. I just feel that expressing it is not what I would like to do because I am not knowledgeable enough.

Any historical character you might like to play?
I haven't played any historical characters. Yes, that would be one of the important options.

Hindi cinema has grown bigger. Today, it is as big abroad as it is in India. How do you see it get better as the years go by?
I don't like this word ( Bollywood) which describes the Indian film industry. Cinema was almost looked upon as infra dig, parents used to go and vet a film before we were allowed to get inside a theatre. Cinema in general was held as an institution where children from good families were not looked as being associated with. But look at the change that has happened now. I don't know if this is good for the country or not; but it's almost become a part of our culture. There are more people who know about the Indian film industry. So, that bodes well. The West was very cynical about our quality of cinema. We made very escapist fare. But one of the points the West did not recognise was that cinema as a medium of entertainment for the common man. I do see Indian cinema progressing very well; gradually, our talent is being recognised, whether in Great Britainor Hollywood, in festivals in Cannes, London, Venice. So, I think we are on the right path.

Emraan is a Bhatt camp kid

Emraan is a Bhatt camp kidOh, the Bhatts are at it again. And this time, Hashmi has jumped on to the banter-bandwagon. When zoOm asked Mahesh Bhattabout doing a film with Emraan, he said, "He's a Bhatt camp kid, usko toh main kaan pakadwaake film karwaunga."

On the other hand, Emraan retorted, "Bhatt can get really theatrical with his quotes at times, I don't think he means it as a taunt. Yes, I belong to the camp and 70 per cent of my hits have been with them, but you've to take everything with a pinch of salt when it comes to Mahesh Bhatt. Of course, I will be working with them." Well, this is one camp that needs no 'camp'aigning to stay in the news!

The 30-year-old wants fans to encourage her new business plan.
"Please come to my restaurant. It's going to be called Oh Fudge," she said.
