Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes split after five years

By Hindustan Times
Fairytale Hollywood couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes announced on Friday they were calling it quits after five years of marriage, ending an unexpected love story dogged by tabloid rumors.
"Kate has filed for divorce and Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children," Amanda Lundberg, Cruise's representative, told AFP.
"Please allow them their privacy to work this out."
"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," said Jonathan Wolfe, the attorney representing Holmes.
"Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
Cruise, who turns 50 on Tuesday, wed Holmes, 33, in a storybook Italian castle in November 2006 after declaring his love for the former Dawson's Creek star live on Oprah - famously hopping on a couch in the studio.
It was Holmes's first marriage and Cruise's third. They have a six-year-old daughter, Suri.
The "TomKat" split comes just 10 days after the "amicable" parting of US actor Johnny Depp and French singer/actress Vanessa Paradis, and will doubtless lead to renewed chatter about the pressures on Hollywood couples.
Holmes has admitted to having a teenage crush on Cruise, even saying she had put up a poster of the Top Gun star in her bedroom.
After a whirlwind courtship that culminated in a proposal under the Eiffel Tower in June 2005, what followed resembled a fairytale - at first.
Fireworks lit up the night sky above the 15th-century Odescalchi castle near Rome when Cruise and Holmes tied the knot on November 18, 2006.
Glitterati from the worlds of cinema, sports and music were on hand at the sprawling estate perched above the lakeside town of Bracciano as Holmes offered her hand to the Mission Impossible star, who has three Oscar nominations.
Italian media reported that American Scientology leader David Miscavige officiated at the event, arguably the most high-profile Scientology wedding to date, in a ceremony that lasted no more than 15 minutes.
Reports at the time said that under the prenuptial agreement, Holmes - who converted to Scientology - would receive $3 million for every year of the marriage plus ownership of a California mansion if they split.
But it remains to be seen how the stylish, dark-haired duo - often snapped at glittery events alongside soccer star David Beckham and his wife Victoria -- will handle the custody of their daughter, who has been called one of Hollywood's most fashionable youngsters.
According to the website TMZ.com, Holmes wants sole custody.
Citing unnamed sources, the website claims Holmes filed for divorce mainly over Cruise's ties to Scientology, "fearing that Tom would drag Suri deep into the church."
"We're told the couple had been arguing over Suri - that she's now of the age where Scientology becomes a significant part of her life," it said.
Tabloids, shadowing the couple since the get-go, have speculated for some time that the relationship was on the rocks after the pair was not seen together for months. Cruise has also won two lawsuits alleging he is gay.
In an interview with Playboy magazine in May, Cruise said he would be spending his birthday shooting a film in Iceland - without his significant other.
"My family, my wife, they understand. It's who I am," he said.
Addressing rumors about his private life, he added: "You just have to keep going and remember that. The other stuff? I hear it, I read it, I get it. But life is not a matter of trying to prove anything to anybody."
Born in New York state in 1962, Cruise was raised by his mother and barely knew his father who left early on. That didn't change his feelings about family.
"I always wanted to be a father, a husband," he told Playboy.
Cruise, still one of Hollywood's most bankable stars as shown by recent box office smash Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, was married to Australian actress Nicole Kidman from 1990 to 2001. The couple had two adopted children, 19-year-old Isabella and 17-year-old Connor.
He was also married to American actress Mimi Rogers from 1987 to 1990 and had a three-year relationship with Spanish star Penelope Cruz after splitting up with Kidman.
Holmes, who was born and raised in Ohio, appeared in Batman Begins (2005) and starred alongside Adam Sandler in the critically panned 2011 romantic comedy Jack and Jill.
News of the divorce set off an avalanche of messages on Twitter, many sarcastic in nature.
"Mimi Rogers 1956 Nicole Kidman 1967 Katie Holmes 1978 - my supercomputer analysis says Tom Cruise's next wife was born in 1989," said one, signed HAL_9000.

Adele pregnant with her first child

By Hindustan Times
Grammy Award-winning British soul diva Adele announced on Friday that she is pregnant with her first child.
The 24-year-old, who swept this year's Grammys after the success of her second album "21", revealed the news on her official website, adding that she and boyfriend Simon Konecki were "over the moon".
"I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together," she wrote.
"I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we're over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time," she added. "Yours always, Adele xx".
The bubbly Londoner has reportedly been dating 36-year-old entrepreneur Konecki since last summer, and the couple went public with their relationship in January.
Konecki divorced fashion stylist Clary Fisher in 2008 after four years of marriage.
Adele's pregnancy caps an incredible year, which has seen her bounce back from throat surgery and "21" top the charts around the world.
She took six gongs at the Grammys in Los Angeles in February, a record previously only matched by Beyonce.
Adele told the US magazine "People" in February that she was keen to "be a mum".
I want to settle down and have a family, definitely sooner rather than later," she said.

AR Rahman to rock London Olympics!

By Hindustan Times
After teaming up for films, music composer AR Rahman and Hollywood filmmaker Danny Boyle will work together again. This time, to compose a part of the score for the opening ceremony of London Olympics 2012 (July 27-August 12). Boyle, who is directing the ceremony, has worked with Rahman in films such as Slumdog Millionaire and 127 Hours.
“I am doing a track for him (Boyle) for the Olympics. It’s one of the songs for the opening ceremony. It’s a secret,” Rahman was quoted as saying. When we contacted him for details, Rahman refused to discuss the score, saying that it is in its early stage.
Apart from Rahman, Indian music composer Ilayaraja’s composition too will be a part of the inaugural programme. His Tamil song, Naanthaan Ungappanda, from Kamal Hassan’s 1980 film Ram Lakshman, has made it to the playlist.
Indian celebrities expected to attend the Olympics are filmmaker Farhan Akhtar and actors Madhuri Dixit and Salman Khan. “Farhan is finalising his trip as per the schedule of the key athletic contests in which India is participating,” says a source.

hot and beautiful Anushka all alone!!!!!

Anushka Sharma is busy shooting for Yash Chopra's next with Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in London. And while both SRK and Katrina have their families by their side, Anushka is left all alone.
So when Shah Rukh and Katrina are busy bonding with their kin, Anushka is spotted hanging out alone in the UK capital. "Since the schedule is very tight, it's not like the actors get a lot of time to chill out after the pack up. But it's understandable that Shah Rukh and Katrina are hanging out with their family members (especially Shah Rukh and his kids) as much as possible. So whenever time permits, hangs out on her own. And she seems to be loving it," says an insider close to the unit.
Apparently, Anushka has been spending her 'me-time' shopping. "She has already met SRK's family. And they have also hung out together a couple of times," says the insider. SRK's family is with him till mid-July, while Katrina's family lives in London. Chopra's yet-untitled film, which is being shot across Central London, is expected to wrap up by mid-July.
In fact, a few days ago, when Karan Johar, who is designing costumes for Shah Rukh in the film, was in London, Anushka apparently hung out with him too. "From the looks of it, Karan and Anushka looked like they share a great rapport. Actually, Anushka has been full of energy during the shoots. And since she has already worked with SRK before (in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi; 2008), they have amazing chemistry," says the insider. When contacted, Yash Raj Films' spokesperson stated that Anushka was unavailable for a comment.

Five Reasons Aaron Sorkin's "Lousy" New Show Newsroom Got the Last Laugh

Critics may be hammering Aaron Sorkin's Newsroom, called "bad," "lousy" and "the worst"—in the same review—but audiences have embraced the new HBO series.
A look at how the cable-news drama managed that Nielsen trick:

. The True Blood Boost: HBO's vampire hit had a big Sunday night, averaging 4.7 million viewers in the 9 p.m. hour before leading into, yes, HBO's Sorkin series in the 10 p.m. hour. True, the new show lost more than half of True Blood's audience, but its 2.1 million viewers represented a solid sampling. HBO said it was its third-most watched drama premiere since 2008.
2. The Sorkin Factor: He wrote Sports Night. He wrote The West Wing. He won an Oscar for The Social Network. Who are viewers going to trust on whether Newsroom's worth watching—the man who brought them all this and more, or members of the certifiably hated press?
3. It Had Its Audience at "Jay Leno": If Newsroom's viewers are anything like Girls', which, per New York's Vulture blog, is mostly watched by people who are not twentysomething (or female, for that matter), then the new show is playing the HBO subscriber like a violin. After all, if there's one subject matter (other than sex) that remains of great interest to people who are not twentysomething, it's AARP-skewing TV news.
4. It's New to You: If you didn't see the one-and-done Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, then you'd never know the before-the-credits, plot-spurring rant by Jeff Daniels' Newsroom anchor is not unlike the before-the-credits, plot-spurring rant from Judd Hirsch's TV Studio 60 producer. (But wait there's more: Vulture compiled a list of 14 Sorkin talking points that got talked about—again—in Sunday's pilot.)
5. Dan Rather Liked It: "With all due respect," the former CBS anchor told Gawker of the Newsroom-trashing news media, "I just don't think [reviewers] 'get it." Rather, however, did allow that he might be wrong, which would mean that PBS' Gwen Ifill, heretofore unheralded for trash talk, might be right. ("zzzzzz," went a tweet from Ifill to a fan who asked her for a review of the show.) Still, Rather's support proves that it only seems like everybody hated Newsroom.

Ex-Porn Queen Jenna Jameson Officially Charged With DUI

Jenna Jameson has assumed the pole position, and not in a good way.
The ex–porn queen has been officially charged with DUI after crashing her car into a street pole last month during an allegedly boozy fender-bender in a Los Angeles suburb.

The Orange County D.A.'s office confirms to E! News that the 38-year-old has been charged with three misdemeanor counts: one misdemeanor of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, one misdemeanor of having a blood alcohol level of 0.08 or higher, and one misdemeanor of driving a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
Jameson, who successfully reinvented herself in the late '90s as a porn mogul and struck gold with a gangbusters Internet hub and a best-selling tell-all, was popped on May 25 after slamming her SUV into a post. No other vehicles were involved in the fender-bender, and a police officer told E! News that Jameson, whose blood alcohol level was 0.13, "displayed objective signs of intoxication."
She suffered minor injuries but declined any medical attention.
If convicted, Jameson could serve anywhere from probation to a year in jail. Her arraignment is set for Tuesday in Orange County.

Sukirti is the new Katrina!

Actor Sukirti Khandpal seems to have become Indian television's go-to girl for shows based on feature films. Having previously acted in Balaji Telefilms' Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani (PKYEK) based on the Twilight Saga, she has now signed a show on Zee where her character is inspired by Katrina Kaif's part in Namastey London (2007).
The actor says, "In Rab Se Sona Isshq, I play an Indian, who is born and brought up in Britain. She is a modern girl with western values and is called Jazz, which was Katrina's name in the film." She adds, however, that "the role is only loosely based on Kat's character, attitude and style in the film. I haven't been asked to watch the film or copy Katrina. Even PKYEK was just based on Twilight - it not a copy."
About the character, she says, "Jazz is a typical London girl. She doesn't know anything about our (Indian) culture nor does she understand family or relationships from the desi perspective." The actor is also excited about her look in the show. "I will wear cute Western outfits and sport my natural curly hair. Being sexy comes naturally to me, and I am hoping to have a lot of fun," she says.

Farah Khan to act once again!!!!????

Farah Khan's debut film, Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi, is yet to release. But days before it is out, director Bela Sehgal has already promised to cast Farah Khan in her next as well. "I am already preparing for a sequel," says Bela.
When we asked Farah about it, she refused to talk about a second acting assignment. All she gave us was a cryptic answer: "Bela always has her way with me. Even when she offered me the first film, I thought she was joking for almost a week." At present, Farah is busy with her directorial project Happy New Year, starring actor Shah Rukh Khan.
Bela says, "When Farah told me she doesn't want to act again, I asked her to stop resisting it. She is an effortless actor. She told me initially that she was so scared that she may have to leave town when the film releases. But she is happy after watching it. She has no choice but to star in the sequel. We can't change Shirin, right?"
Produced by Eros International and Bhansali Productions, the film will have Farah playing Shirin Fugawala, a 40-year-old, bubbly Parsi Trust secretary who is finding it difficult to get married until she meets Farhad. The story talks about how they meet, fall in love, the problems a mature couple face and how they overcome them.
Bela says Farah was as hardworking as Boman (Irani). "She sat for regular readings and workshops and prepped for a while before we actually shot. She was meticulous, like any other actor, about things like getting light on her face. She has a natural sense of acting and looking good onscreen," she adds.

Salman Khan to stay away from stunts and action?

We too had that expression of disbelief after coming upon the reports suggesting that Salman Khan’s nerve disorder problem has aggravated again and he’s been told categorically by his family members and close friends to stay away from stunts and action while shooting his films, lest a misjudged stunt, mistimed jump, or an ill-aimed punch make the superstar’s trigeminal neuralgia worse. The implication of such a development could be far-reaching as every single one of Salman’s upcoming films is an action flick, be it Ek Tha TigerSher Khan or Kick

However, it appears that such a report was unfounded as Atul Agnihotri, Salman Khan’s brother-in-law and a confidant, has made it clear that bhai is not pulling the plug on action sequences yet.

“The report is baseless. Salman is currently shooting action sequence for Dabangg 2 at Mehboob Studio,” Atul Agnihotri is quoted as saying.

In fact, one might have imagined that Salman Khan would go easy on stunts after the mishap on the sets of Dabangg 2 on Saturday in which three technicians were injured and rushed to Lilavati Hospital.

Michael Jackson: The King of Pop returns as ghost!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael Jackson: The King of Pop returns as ghost!

There’s a report that Michael Jackson’s spirit is haunting the Beverly Hills mansion – the place where the ‘King of Pop’ breathed his last.
And not once but on many accounts and as seen by many, Michael Jackson’s so called spirit has strolled around the place and looked like enacting a scene from his ‘Thriller’ video. MJ (MJ’s ghost i.e.,) has not ended by few peeps over the window glass or a few quiet walks, he has apparently played songs from his albums during his ‘visits’.
“It has freaked everyone out. When he was living there, Michael would regularly look through the curtains and see who was around. People have heard his music coming from the house and even singing. It is so weird. The world knew that Michael was obsessed by the afterlife, from his songs like ‘Thriller’. Everyone thinks that Michael’s ghost walks around the house,” the Daily Star quoted one of his neighbours as saying.
“He believed in spirits – now his own has returned,” the neighbour said.

Now, Ajay Devgn a threat to Rajinikanth

You pay dearly if you are pitted up against a Bollywood superstar, even if you go by the name of Rajinikanth. Don’t believe it? Well, we’ll make you, since that’s exactly what has happened. Legendary actor Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated, or so they say, upcoming flick ‘Kochadaiyaan’ has suffered a setback due to the presence of Ajay Devgn’s next production being in the fray. According to reports, the release date of Rajini’s movie has been postponed deliberately because Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar’ is scheduled to release during the same time. And the producers of the Southern movie have thought it to be better not to go against Ajay’s movie because the buzz of ‘Son of Sardaar’ is expected to be high too.
Though, there is no way that Devgn’s movie poses a threat to Rajini’s in the market down south, but yes, competing in the Hindi-speaking belt against Ajay would be a tough task. And hence, for the very same reason, the producers believe that Diwali would not be the best time to unveil Rajini in the north-west. The news of Salman Khan doing an item number in ‘Son of Sardaar’ would only mar the business of ‘Kochadaiyaan’ further.
Well, coming to think of it the other way round, this is good news for Mr. Devgn as well. We are just about getting ready for his ‘Bol Bachchan’ right now, by the way.

Did you really miss Genelia D’Souza?

Gorgeous and vivacious Genelia D’Souza is all geared up to resume her acting career after a fairly short hiatus post her February wedding to actor Retiesh Deshmukh. The starlet who added up the maximum count in her fan list after ‘Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ would be next seen in ‘Rock The Shaadi’ alongside Abhay Deol. But before that, it’s Genelia’s long impending for release film ‘It’s My Life’ with Harman Baweja, which is likely to hit the screen by end of June 2012.
Ever since this news of Genelia resuming her acting career has come in limelight, I have been thinking if we actually missed her all this while she was away from the action and silver screen? Though the diva scores a perfect ten when it comes to her style and glamour quotient but when it comes to acting or be in the list of top stars, Genelia hasn’t done anything remarkably significant (unlike other big stars) that can be talked about when she is not around. Don’t you agree guys?
Genelia’s below average Bollywood debut in ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ went unnoticed and then romantic comedy ‘Masti’ (2004) helped her get some recognition. Even then, Genelia was primarily known as a regional actress who appeared in a handful of Telugu and Tamil movies and bagged a few awards too for her performance in regional cinema.
Talk of Bollywood and it was only after a struggling tryst that Genelia D’Souza managed to woo the audience with a romantic film ‘Jane Tu Ya Jane Na’ (2008). And this box office did add her name in the league of ‘at least known in Bollywood’ stars. But sooner, the pace was slowed down, yet again, and Genelia was seen in very average films including ‘Life Partner’, ‘Chance Pe Dance’, ‘Force’ and ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’. And honestly, none of these films did anything great for Genelia’s Bollywood career. Sometimes, I don’t understand why don’t such actresses with high potential take their career seriously? Was being a one-film-wonder enough for Genelia?
So when everyone is talking about Genelia’s shooting for upcoming film ‘Rock The Shaadi’, I am a little skeptical whether she has any plan in mind or is it going to be just another failed attempt? I’m sure even movie lovers, especially Genelia D’Souza fans are wondering the same. Having said it all, I feel the actress needs to buck up and grab some substantial roles in Bollywood and not just be known as Retiest’s better half.

Some Hottness Redefined !!!! wild kat!!!!

Britain: Indian TV actress faces racial abuse on Twitter

London: British actress of Indian origin Shobna Gulati has said she was forced to quit microblogging site Twitter after suffering a stream of racist abuse.

The 45-year-old 'Coronation Street' star's pictures were mutilated by the netizens, who posted them online with sick comments, reported Sun online.

"You're not British, you're foreign," one user wrote.

While, another tweeted, "I'll always be here to bother you." Gulati, who plays Sunita in the ITV1 soap, said, "Being racially abused on Twitter really shook me up. It felt like going back in time to the 1970s.

"It put me in mind of a psycho — like a horror movie. I just decided enough was enough. I tried to ignore it but it started to affect my confidence. Violent, vitriolic hatred gives people their moment in the spotlight. It beggars belief."

Born in Oldham to Indian parents, Gulati spoke out after Towie star Lauren Goodger was targeted by evil Internet trolls over her weight.

Man or woman? Mystery over Pinki Pramanik's gender continues

Kolkata: The mystery over the gender of Asian Games gold medallist Pinki Pramanik continued as the karyotyping test to determine the chromosome pattern could not be held at the state's referral SSKM Hospital.

An 11-member medical team today conducted various tests on the long-distance runner at the SSKM hospital but the most crucial test to determine the gender still could not be held.

"In our clinical examination, we conducted several tests. But the karyotyping could not be held here. We have the karyotyping facility but only for research purpose," Tamal Kanti Ghosh, medical superintendent of SSKM Hospital, said.

Asked where they would send the sample, Ghosh said: "There are facilities in Mumbai, Hyderabad among others. But we are yet to decide on it. We have to submit our reports at the chief judicial magistrate by June 29."

Six days earlier, a seven-member specialists at the Barasat General Hospital could not establish Pramanik's gender because of inadequate facilities and the former long-distance runner's case was sent to the state's only referral hospital.

Pramanik, accused of rape and of being 'male', is currently in judicial custody.

The athlete, who had won the 4x400m relay women's gold in the Doha Asian Games 2006, was arrested on June 14 after being accused of multiple sexual assault and misrepresentation of gender by a 30-year-old woman who had a live-in relationship with the athlete for two years.

The 27-year-old, who had won five gold medals and one silver between 2005 and 2006, officially retired the next year, but there were reports that the athlete was not allowed in a Madurai national meet because of 'excessive male hormones'.

Pramanik's counsel Tuhin Roy claimed that the entire case was fabricated and also asserted that the athlete was a female.

"The entire case is fabricated. She is a female and the tests will now prove that," Roy told reporters.

Pramanik was brought from the Dum Dum Central Correctional Home to the SSKM in the afternoon as she was first taken to the forensic and state medicine department.

Later, she was taken for an MRI and USG and other tests, hospital sources said.

The medical board includes a psychiatrist, radiologist, a gynaecologist and an anatomist among other experts.

Sapna further says that many other Bollywood actors and actresses may have links with Laskhar-e-Taiyiba and other likes terrorist organizations.
She added that if intelligence agencies keep an eye on artists coming from neighboring countries, it is very likely that many other names would come forward who are working terrorist organizations in the guise of working for the entertainment industry.
Sapna told Bhaskar News, “Laila is just a small fish in the pond and how is it possible that an actress lives a lavish life even when she has done just one film.”
Laila Khan alias Reshma Patel, who made her debut with yesteryear’s superstar Rajesh Khanna in Wafaa (2008), is allegedly in the clutches of Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives in a hideout located in Pak Occupied Kashmir (POK).

First look at Esha Deol's wedding card

Pakistani starlet Veena Malik could be the new home breaker of B-Town.
Malik's illicit affair with her filmmaker beau Hemant Madhukar has apparently disturbed the personal life of the director.
If sources are to be believed, Hemant is having a troubled marriage after the affair came in the media glare and it is learnt that Hemant's wife is all set to file for legal separation.
If this happens, Veena is set to tear apart a happy marriage. This is the second time that Veena has been caught by shutterbugs romancing Madhukar, after the two met on the sets of Mumbai 125 Kms.
Veena was first seen in love with Pakistani Cricketer Mohd. Asif, next was Big Boss co- contestant Ashmit Patel, with whom the damsel was in a live-in relationship and now, she is trying to play a spoilsport or perhaps cheating on Ashmit for Hemant, who also is allegedly tagged as a filmmaker, who believes in casting couch.
