Actor Sukirti Khandpal seems to have become Indian television's go-to girl for shows based on feature films. Having previously acted in Balaji Telefilms' Pyaar Ki Ek Kahani (PKYEK) based on the Twilight Saga, she has now signed a show on Zee where her character is inspired by Katrina Kaif's part in Namastey London (2007).
The actor says, "In Rab Se Sona Isshq, I play an Indian, who is born and brought up in Britain. She is a modern girl with western values and is called Jazz, which was Katrina's name in the film." She adds, however, that "the role is only loosely based on Kat's character, attitude and style in the film. I haven't been asked to watch the film or copy Katrina. Even PKYEK was just based on Twilight - it not a copy."
About the character, she says, "Jazz is a typical London girl. She doesn't know anything about our (Indian) culture nor does she understand family or relationships from the desi perspective." The actor is also excited about her look in the show. "I will wear cute Western outfits and sport my natural curly hair. Being sexy comes naturally to me, and I am hoping to have a lot of fun," she says.
