Did you really miss Genelia D’Souza?

Gorgeous and vivacious Genelia D’Souza is all geared up to resume her acting career after a fairly short hiatus post her February wedding to actor Retiesh Deshmukh. The starlet who added up the maximum count in her fan list after ‘Jane Tu Ya Jaane Na’ would be next seen in ‘Rock The Shaadi’ alongside Abhay Deol. But before that, it’s Genelia’s long impending for release film ‘It’s My Life’ with Harman Baweja, which is likely to hit the screen by end of June 2012.
Ever since this news of Genelia resuming her acting career has come in limelight, I have been thinking if we actually missed her all this while she was away from the action and silver screen? Though the diva scores a perfect ten when it comes to her style and glamour quotient but when it comes to acting or be in the list of top stars, Genelia hasn’t done anything remarkably significant (unlike other big stars) that can be talked about when she is not around. Don’t you agree guys?
Genelia’s below average Bollywood debut in ‘Tujhe Meri Kasam’ went unnoticed and then romantic comedy ‘Masti’ (2004) helped her get some recognition. Even then, Genelia was primarily known as a regional actress who appeared in a handful of Telugu and Tamil movies and bagged a few awards too for her performance in regional cinema.
Talk of Bollywood and it was only after a struggling tryst that Genelia D’Souza managed to woo the audience with a romantic film ‘Jane Tu Ya Jane Na’ (2008). And this box office did add her name in the league of ‘at least known in Bollywood’ stars. But sooner, the pace was slowed down, yet again, and Genelia was seen in very average films including ‘Life Partner’, ‘Chance Pe Dance’, ‘Force’ and ‘Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya’. And honestly, none of these films did anything great for Genelia’s Bollywood career. Sometimes, I don’t understand why don’t such actresses with high potential take their career seriously? Was being a one-film-wonder enough for Genelia?
So when everyone is talking about Genelia’s shooting for upcoming film ‘Rock The Shaadi’, I am a little skeptical whether she has any plan in mind or is it going to be just another failed attempt? I’m sure even movie lovers, especially Genelia D’Souza fans are wondering the same. Having said it all, I feel the actress needs to buck up and grab some substantial roles in Bollywood and not just be known as Retiest’s better half.
