Actress-singer Jennifer Hudson, who became famous as a contestant on " American Idol", will return to the small screen. She will make a guest appearance in musical series " Smash".
The show focuses on the world of New York's theatre district.
"First 'Dreamgirls', now 'Smash'. I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on National Broadcasting Company ( NBC)," contactmusic.com quoted show's executive producer Steven Spielberg as saying.
Hudson, 30, will be joined by another "American Idol" participant, Katherine MCPhee, on the show.
