We were not surprised when we read that director Pooja Bhatt was sent home without even an ‘A’ rating for her erotic thriller
Pooja Bhatt’s directorial comeback, Jism 2, has been in the news for a long time now, and that is because of its leading lady, Sunny Leone. The theatrical trailer set temperatures soaring, and with each song that the makers release, our curiosity has been shooting through the roof. With a porn star romancing two dashing dudes – this threesome makes Saif Ali Khan’s Cocktail look like a kiddy flick. It didn’t come as a surprise then that the Censor Board thought that Jism 2 was too bold for even an adult certificate.
In a recent interview the irked filmmaker said, “I sat down and thought about what they had said. They have a problem with certain shots, like the one where Sunny turns around and a part of her breast is visible. If I really had a problem, I would have headed straight to the Revising Committee. I don’t, so I will introduce close-ups wherever wide angles have been used in the scenes in question. It’s okay. It will not amputate my film.”
Evidently Ms Bhatt knew what was in store for her, and we are sure the audience will watch a highly watered down version of what seems like a soft porn film. The regressive approach of the Censor Board does make us cringe and wethinks that if a film is aimed at adults, as long as it doesn’t lead to public outrage, it should be released as it is. Do you agree with us?
